Chiropractic care is beneficial in the treatment of many work-related injuries. The Industrial Commission does recognize chiropractors as qualified medical providers, therefore all reasonable or necessary treatment provided by a chiropractor should be paid by the employer. The injured worker should choose his/her doctors/chiropractors wisely since the Workers' Compensation Act allows the employee to see only two medical providers of his/her own choice.

There are five major types of workers' compensation benefits to which the patient may be entitled. The first three are the most common:

1. Lost time benefits (equal to 2/3 of the employee's average weekly salary);
2. Reimbursement for medical expenses;
3. Permanent partial disability benefits; (It is best to obtain legal counsel if you feel this type of benefit applies to your injury)
4. Total and permanent disability benefits (lifetime benefits);
5. Rehabilitation expenses and training, if necessary.

Although an employer is obligated by law to pay for medical bills and weekly compensation if an employee is injured on the job, the injury is often disputed and the employee must pursue legal action to collect his/her benefits.
